Hospital beds for the home, handled with care

A hospital bed at home is usually about two things: the person in it can be repositioned safely, and the person caring for them does not destroy their own back doing it. Height adjustment is what protects the caregiver; head and foot articulation is what protects the patient.

We deliver, assemble in the room you choose, and show whoever will be operating it how it works — including the parts people get wrong, like where the rails lock and how to lower the bed in a hurry.

Brands we carry

We stock, among others: Drive Medical, Invacare, Joerns Healthcare, Graham Field, Span America. All brands we carry →

Brand availability changes. If your clinician specified a product, give us the manufacturer reference number and we will source that item rather than substituting an equivalent.

Everyday use

A bed that raises and lowers at the touch of a button means fewer strained backs for caregivers and a person who can sit up on their own.

Is it covered?

Most of what we supply is a Medicare Part B benefit, and most Florida commercial plans and Medicare Advantage plans cover it too, when it is medically necessary and your prescriber has documented why you need it. Coverage is never automatic: it depends on your diagnosis, your plan, and what is written in your chart.

What we do about it: before we deliver your hospital beds for the home, we verify your benefits, tell you what your plan says your share will be, and chase any missing paperwork with your prescriber. If your plan will not cover it, we say so up front and quote you a private-pay price instead.

We are enrolled with Medicare as a DMEPOS supplier and we accept Florida Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and a broad list of commercial plans — see the full list.

We do not publish coverage amounts or fee-schedule figures on this site. Allowables differ by state, by plan and by year, and a number that is stale or from the wrong jurisdiction is worse than no number at all. Call us and we will quote your actual benefit.

What you will pay

With Medicare or your plan
We bill your plan directly
You owe only the share your plan sets · we bill a secondary when you have one
Private pay
A plain quote before anything ships
No insurance needed · brand-name or generic to fit the budget

We verify first. Before anything is delivered we tell you what your plan says your share will be. If the plan will not cover it, we say so and quote a private-pay price instead — you decide, nothing is sent on assumption.

Prefer to skip insurance? Private pay made easy

No insurance, or want it fast and simple? We quote a straightforward private-pay price, ship supplies anywhere in Florida and deliver equipment across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade — no paperwork chase. Choose brand-name or lower-cost generic options to fit your budget.

Why Scotts

  • Family owned in Boca Raton since 2014 — you reach people who know the account, not a call center.

  • Florida Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and most commercial plans accepted, and we bill your secondary for the share it covers.
  • We verify benefits before anything ships — you hear your share first, and nothing is delivered on assumption.
  • Delivery and setup across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade, and supplies shipped anywhere in Florida.
  • Brand-name and generic options — we help you choose quality that fits the budget and the prescription.

  • Simple private pay when you would rather skip insurance, with a plain quote first.
  • One point of contact from order to delivery to resupply.

What your order needs

Sending these together is the single biggest thing that shortens turnaround. Missing documentation, not policy, is what stalls most orders.

  • A written order and a face-to-face evaluation
  • Documentation of the medical need — typically that the patient requires positioning that an ordinary bed cannot provide, needs the head elevated above a certain angle, needs traction, or needs to change position frequently and cannot do so in a standard bed
  • Which type of bed — semi-electric versus full-electric — and why
  • Whether rails and a therapeutic mattress are needed, and why
  • Room measurements and access — tell us about stairs, narrow doorways and lifts before delivery day

Providers: fax to (800) 594-1226 or call (800) 304-7030. If something is missing we will call your office rather than sitting on it.

Frequently asked questions

Semi-electric or full-electric?
Semi-electric powers the head and foot; you adjust the height with a crank. Full-electric powers the height too. If a caregiver will be transferring the patient or providing care at the bedside daily, height adjustment is what saves their back — and plans want that need documented rather than assumed.
Are bed rails safe?
They can be, and they can also cause entrapment injuries. Rails should be the right ones for that bed and that mattress, correctly fitted, with no gap the patient can slide into. We fit them; please do not buy rails separately and improvise.
Will it fit in the room?
Measure before ordering, and tell us about the route in — stairs, turns, doorway widths, lift size. Beds come in components and we assemble on site, but access still decides what is possible.
Can we rent it?
Usually. Hospital beds are commonly a rental item under Medicare with a capped-rental structure. We will explain what applies to you before you commit.
Do I need a prescription?
For anything billed to Medicare, Medicaid or a commercial plan, yes — and most plans also want chart notes showing why you need it. If you do not have an order yet, we can request one from your prescriber.
How do I know what my plan will pay?
We verify it before we ship and tell you what we found, including your expected share. We do not publish coverage amounts on this site because they vary by plan, by state and by year.
How fast can I get it?
Private-pay and stocked supply items move quickly. Anything requiring prior authorization moves at the speed of your plan — we file it the same day and chase it, but the plan sets the clock.
Can you ship, or do you deliver?
Both. Recurring supplies ship to you anywhere in Florida. Equipment that needs setting up — beds, lifts, mattresses, chairs — we deliver and assemble across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade.
