Parenteral nutrition & TPN, handled with care

Parenteral nutrition is the route of last resort, and it is the one with the least room for a supply mistake. A patient on TPN is not eating. If the bag does not arrive, or arrives with the wrong additive, there is nothing to fall back on and no way to wait until Monday.

That is why home parenteral nutrition is a coordinated service rather than a product order. The solution is compounded to a prescription that changes with the patient’s labs; the pump, the administration sets and the central-line care supplies have to arrive with it; and the whole thing runs on a documentation standard stricter than almost anything else Medicare covers. We carry the supply side and we hold the schedule.

Most patients we are asked about do not in fact need parenteral nutrition — they need enteral feeding, which is cheaper, safer and far easier to cover. If the gut works, it should be used, and we will say so — the question of which route a patient needs is a clinical one, and we would rather answer it honestly than sell the harder therapy.

Everyday use

Nutrition that goes into a vein leaves no room for a missed delivery, so the schedule is built to arrive early and the supplies that keep the line safe arrive with it.

Is it covered?

Most of what we supply is a Medicare Part B benefit, and most Florida commercial plans and Medicare Advantage plans cover it too, when it is medically necessary and your prescriber has documented why you need it. Coverage is never automatic: it depends on your diagnosis, your plan, and what is written in your chart.

What we do about it: before we deliver your parenteral nutrition, we verify your benefits, tell you what your plan says your share will be, and chase any missing paperwork with your prescriber. If your plan will not cover it, we say so up front and quote you a private-pay price instead.

We are enrolled with Medicare as a DMEPOS supplier and we accept Florida Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and a broad list of commercial plans — see the full list.

We do not publish coverage amounts or fee-schedule figures on this site. Allowables differ by state, by plan and by year, and a number that is stale or from the wrong jurisdiction is worse than no number at all. Call us and we will quote your actual benefit.

What you will pay

With Medicare or your plan
We bill your plan directly
You owe only the share your plan sets · we bill a secondary when you have one
Private pay
A plain quote before anything ships
No insurance needed · brand-name or generic to fit the budget

We verify first. Before anything is delivered we tell you what your plan says your share will be. If the plan will not cover it, we say so and quote a private-pay price instead — you decide, nothing is sent on assumption.

What your order needs

Sending these together is the single biggest thing that shortens turnaround. Missing documentation, not policy, is what stalls most orders.

  • A written order stating the formulation, the infusion volume and rate, the cycle, and the access device in use
  • Documentation that the impairment of the alimentary tract is permanent — Medicare’s test is a condition expected to last at least 90 days, not a temporary inability to eat
  • Evidence that enteral feeding was tried and failed, or is contraindicated, and why
  • Recent labs and weights, and the prescriber’s plan for monitoring them
  • The type, position and placement date of the central venous access device
  • For specialty amino acid formulations, the diagnosis that justifies the formulation

Providers: fax to (800) 594-1226 or call (800) 304-7030. If something is missing we will call your office rather than sitting on it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between parenteral and enteral nutrition?
Enteral goes into the digestive tract through a tube — the gut still does the work. Parenteral goes into a vein and bypasses the gut entirely. Enteral is safer, cheaper and far easier to cover, so it is the right answer whenever the gut works at all. Parenteral is for when it does not.
Why is the documentation so much stricter than for tube feeding?
Because Medicare covers both as a prosthetic device benefit — the therapy is replacing the function of an organ — and parenteral asks the reviewer to accept that the entire alimentary tract is unusable. That claim has to be supported: the condition, its expected permanence, and why enteral feeding is not an option. We tell your prescriber exactly what the note needs to say before anything is filed.
Can you supply the pump as well as the solution?
Yes. The infusion pump, the administration sets and the supply kit are part of the same benefit and we supply them together, so the pump does not arrive a week after the solution.
My formulation changes with my labs. Can you keep up?
That is the normal case and the schedule is built for it. Send us the revised order and we adjust the next delivery; tell us early if a cycle or rate changes so the supply count changes with it.
What happens if a delivery is at risk?
You hear from us before the day it matters, not after. A patient on parenteral nutrition has no fallback, so a delayed shipment is treated as an urgent problem rather than a logistics update.
Do you handle the central-line supplies too?
Yes — dressing-change kits, transparent dressings, securement, prep, flushes, connectors, caps and sharps disposal. Line care and nutrition arriving from two different places is how supplies get missed.
Do I need a prescription?
For anything billed to Medicare, Medicaid or a commercial plan, yes — and most plans also want chart notes showing why you need it. If you do not have an order yet, we can request one from your prescriber.
How do I know what my plan will pay?
We verify it before we ship and tell you what we found, including your expected share. We do not publish coverage amounts on this site because they vary by plan, by state and by year.
How fast can I get it?
Private-pay and stocked supply items move quickly. Anything requiring prior authorization moves at the speed of your plan — we file it the same day and chase it, but the plan sets the clock.
Can you ship, or do you deliver?
Both. Recurring supplies ship to you anywhere in Florida. Equipment that needs setting up — beds, lifts, mattresses, chairs — we deliver and assemble across Palm Beach and Broward.
