Getting it into the building

Most failed deliveries in Broward and Miami-Dade are not clinical problems and not insurance problems. They are building problems — and every one of them is avoidable if we know about it before the van is loaded.

• Certificate of insurance. Many condo and HOA boards will not let a delivery vehicle past the gate without a COI naming the association. Requesting one takes us minutes; discovering we need one at your door costs you a delivery slot. Tell us the association name up front.
• Service lift booking. Larger buildings require the freight lift to be reserved, often in a fixed window and often not at weekends. A hospital bed will not go up a passenger lift.
• Loading dock hours. Frequently a narrow weekday window. If it closes at 3pm we need to know that, not find out at 3:05.
• Gate and guardhouse clearance. Gated communities need the delivery listed in advance with the driver's details.
• Doorway and turn measurements. Older buildings especially — a bed frame that clears the lift may not clear the turn out of it.
• A phone that gets answered. The most common cause of a failed delivery anywhere.

Give us the building name and the association when you order and we will do the access work before the delivery is scheduled, not after one fails.

Hurricane season and powered equipment

Broward and Miami-Dade sit in the highest-exposure part of the state, and the coastal strip is in the first evacuation zones to be called. If your equipment plugs in — CPAP, nebulizer, feeding pump, alternating-pressure mattress, power wheelchair — that is a plan you need to have made in June, not on the day the cone shifts.

Register with your county emergency management Special Needs Registry in advance, know whether your device runs from a battery, and keep two weeks of consumables where you can reach them. If a storm is forecast and your resupply is due that week, call us early — we would far rather ship you ahead of schedule than fail to ship you at all.

Language

Tell us at the start of the call which language you would rather use and we will tell you honestly what we can offer. Getting a catheter size, a dressing schedule or a machine setting half-understood is not an acceptable outcome, and we would rather arrange something than let you struggle through in English.

This is the single highest-value unanswered question for the Broward and Miami-Dade ad markets: Hialeah is overwhelmingly Spanish-speaking and North Miami is a major Haitian Creole-speaking community, and a competitor who can say it truthfully will win those clicks. Confirm which languages staff actually speak, whether an interpreter line is contracted, and whether any written materials are translated — then this copy can be replaced with a real claim.

Worth knowing
