Patient lifts & transfer equipment

Hydraulic and electric patient lifts, slings, transfer boards, gait belts and trapeze systems.

✓ We verify your benefits first 🚚 Delivered or shipped

Patient lifts, slings and transfer equipment in Palm Beach County — Invacare, Joerns and Drive Medical lifts delivered and demonstrated by Scotts Medical Supply, Boca Raton FL.

Manual lifting is how caregivers get injured and how patients get dropped. A lift is not a luxury for a household where one person is transferring another who cannot bear weight — it is what makes home care sustainable instead of a countdown to two injured people.

Brands

We stock, among others: Invacare, Joerns Healthcare, Drive Medical, Graham Field, Medline. All brands we carry →

Brand availability changes. If your clinician specified a product, give us the manufacturer reference number and we will source that item rather than substituting an equivalent.

Is it covered?

Most of what we supply is a Medicare Part B benefit, and most Florida commercial plans and Medicare Advantage plans cover it too, when it is medically necessary and your prescriber has documented why you need it. Coverage is never automatic: it depends on your diagnosis, your plan, and what is written in your chart.

What we do about it: before we deliver your patient lifts, we verify your benefits, tell you what your plan says your share will be, and chase any missing paperwork with your prescriber. If your plan will not cover it, we say so up front and quote you a private-pay price instead.

We are enrolled with Medicare as a DMEPOS supplier and we accept Florida Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and a broad list of commercial plans — see the full list.

We do not publish coverage amounts or fee-schedule figures on this site. Allowables differ by state, by plan and by year, and a number that is stale or from the wrong jurisdiction is worse than no number at all. Call us and we will quote your actual benefit.

What your order needs

Sending these together is the single biggest thing that shortens turnaround. Missing documentation, not policy, is what stalls most orders.

  • A written order and documentation that the patient cannot transfer safely without a lift, and that a caregiver is available and able to operate it
  • Patient weight, for lift and sling capacity
  • Sling type and size — slings are not universal and the wrong sling is a genuine hazard
  • Home layout: floor type, clearance under the bed, and whether there is room to maneuver

Providers: fax to (800) 594-1226 or call (800) 304-7030. If something is missing we will call your office rather than sitting on it.

Frequently asked questions

Hydraulic or electric?
Hydraulic lifts are pumped by hand and cost less; electric lifts raise at the touch of a button and are far easier if the caregiver is themselves older or has limited strength. Coverage generally distinguishes the two and wants the need for the electric version documented.
Can one person use it alone?
Many lifts are designed for single-caregiver use, but that depends on the patient, the sling and the transfer. We will train whoever will be operating it at delivery, and we would rather spend the extra twenty minutes than have you learn on your own.
Do slings come with the lift?
Usually one sling does. Slings are sized and typed to the task — a toileting sling and a full-body sling are not interchangeable — so tell us what transfers you need to do.
Will it fit under the bed?
Check the clearance under the bed frame before ordering. Divan bases and beds with solid surrounds often will not accept a floor lift, and that is a bad thing to discover at delivery.
Do I need a prescription?
For anything billed to Medicare, Medicaid or a commercial plan, yes — and most plans also want chart notes showing why you need it. If you do not have an order yet, we can request one from your prescriber.
How do I know what my plan will pay?
We verify it before we ship and tell you what we found, including your expected share. We do not publish coverage amounts on this site because they vary by plan, by state and by year.
How fast can I get it?
Private-pay and stocked supply items move quickly. Anything requiring prior authorization moves at the speed of your plan — we file it the same day and chase it, but the plan sets the clock.
Can you ship, or do you deliver?
Both. Recurring supplies ship to you anywhere in Florida. Equipment that needs setting up — beds, lifts, mattresses, chairs — we deliver and assemble across Palm Beach and Broward.

Not sure where to start?

Call us and tell us what happened — a surgery, a new diagnosis, a discharge date, a supply you keep running out of. We will tell you what is usually needed, check your benefits, and ask your prescriber for the order if you do not have one yet.
